Find the Booty
A downloadable game for Windows
A two player treasure hunting game! Player one hides the treasure and leaves clues, player two must then follow the clues and find the treasure.
This was submitted as part of the Rapid Game Prototyping module for my Masters course. We were given a theme at the start of the week, and had until the following week to develop a prototype based on that theme.
The theme for this week was "Pirates". I didn't think I had time to make any kind of combat system. So I went for the most piratey thing of all, treasure! The modifier for this week was, it need to be a 2 player game. So I decided to make a game where the first player hides some treasure on an island and leaves clues for the second player. The second player then has to follow the clues and finds the treasure. The clue setter can be as devious as they want with their clues, and with some more polishing, I think it could be really fun!

Week VI: Pirates

Concept 80-100%
An outstanding game concept is presented, that uniquely and innovatively encapsulates the theme. The concept is original, exciting, and with additional work outside of Game a Week could be built upon and fleshed out into a fully-fledged game release.
Functionality 80-100%
An excellent playable prototype has been submitted, with an excellent attempt at all the essential mechanics required to demonstrate the concept. The game runs smoothly, is error free, and clearly proves (or disproves) your concept’s viability. There is a demonstrable level of polish that suggests this could be a releasable vertical slice.
Comment from your Assessors:
This was another really great idea with a lot of the core functionality in place to test out the idea successfully. The idea that players can map out the world with their own custom directions is really excellent, and you mention that may become quite time consuming- maybe there could be premade instructions that can be dragged and dropped into the notes, e.g. "Head West _ spaces." and you enter a number in the space, something to make it a little more guided. That might also mean that the first player has a bit more of a challenge- can they create directions for player two, when they only have a set amount of instructions they can use. Something to think about anyhow. You've shown some really good functional development again, and its really come together into what could be a really small vertical slice to show off in your portfoli
